European Geopark Weeks - 1st UNESCO Geopark Swabian Alb Symposium

To kick off the European Geopark Weeks, the first Geopark Symposium took place yesterday, 16 May. Over 50 stakeholders from all parts of the Alb and even the neighbouring Geopark Ries came together in Steinheim am Albuch (LK Heidenheim) to expand their network, learn about the work of the Geopark and exchange ideas.

The approach of offering participants from such diverse fields of action as education, protection of the geological heritage, sustainable regional development and geotourism a place for interdisciplinary exchange created the opportunity to make contacts and get inspirations for new joint projects. An SDG workshop and guided tours around Steinheim rounded off the programme.
